I’ve loved horses my entire life, but when my beloved horse Lizano died in 2020, I was so heartbroken by losing my best friend that I barely rode again. I just didn’t feel inspired. I didn’t feel it in my heart or in my soul. And then I arrived in Cappadocia - The Land of Beautiful Horses
During the month I spent there attending the ARC Residency hosted by Taskonaklar Hotel, I went on the most magical rides with at sunrise and sunset through the Cappadocian landscape. Being on horseback in that extraordinary place was an experience I still don’t really have the words for. There was so much beauty, so much freedom, and this overwhelming feeling of reconnecting with something I’ve loved for as long as I can remember.
Those experiences reignited my love of riding, and naturally, that came through in my creativity. The horses became part of the Murals I painted and the ceramic pieces I made. I was creating from what I was experiencing, what I was feeling, and what was moving me so profoundly during my time there.
To feel that love, freedom, beauty and joy on horseback again, after all these years, meant more to me than I can explain.
