A Vibe: Tropical Luxe

Combining My Love of Tropical Plants with a Neutral Color Palette

One of my most requested mural styles is the perfect blend of my love for tropical plants and a neutral colour palette. It’s the inspiration for my next project in Uvita, Costa Rica. Next week, I'll be heading there to paint a mural inside a stunning private residence that overlooks the Pacific Ocean, set against a lush tropical backdrop.

I often find that Tropical Luxe is a favorite design choice for many of my clients. It harmonizes beautifully with the natural surroundings of the homes and businesses I’m commissioned to paint. Neutral tones mixed with earthy, organic textures create a calming effect that aligns with the natural beauty of tropical environments.

While it’s exciting to work with bold, vibrant colors and cover entire walls in rich tones, this isn’t always the best fit for every space. In fact, many of my clients seek something more subdued, where the mural enhances the environment without overpowering it. That's why I focus on creating designs that blend seamlessly with the existing textures and palettes of the location.

Before I begin any project, I spend time talking with the client to understand their personal style, vision, and aesthetic preferences. From there, I carefully study the space itself—looking at color, texture, light, architecture, and even the furnishings. My goal is to design a mural that not only reflects the client’s personality but also uplifts and complements the overall environment.

The process of turning sketches into hand-painted murals is one of my favorite parts of the job. There's something incredibly satisfying about watching a space transform and seeing how a mural can bring new energy to a room. I believe that a well-executed mural doesn’t just decorate a space—it creates an atmosphere.
